# Initiative, Platform, and Launch Platform

Initiative, Platform, and Launch Platform are now entries that are linked to your samples.

Initiative, Platform, and Launch Platforms can now be added as separate entries in MySESAR. You can add, edit, and delete\* them, and link them to your samples during registration. A maximum of 10 entries are possible for each metadata field per registration.

\* Only initiatives, platforms, and launch platforms that are not linked to a sample can be deleted.

### Adding New Initiative, Platform, and Launch Platform

The process for adding them in MySESAR is the same. You can access them on the left hand panel under 'Your Samples'/'Team Samples' or by adding them during the time of your registrations. Please follow this guide:

1. If you are using the left hand panel, choose which of the initiative, platform, and launch platforms you want to add. Click the '+ Add'.
2. Enter the name and related information. Name is required, however, other metadata fields are not.
3. After adding, the initiative, platform, or launch platform should be added and updated on the page.
4. Using the three dots on the right hand side, you can 'View Details & Samples', 'Edit', and 'Delete'.

### Linking Initiative, Platform, and Launch Platform to Samples

After adding Initiative, Platform, and Launch Platform, you can add them to your sample metadata during and after registration.

#### Adding After Sample Registration - Edit Sample

1. Navigate to 'Edit' an individual sample under 'Samples'.
2. Under 'Sampling method' tab, scroll down to 'Cruise/field program’'to 'Add Initiative'.
3. You can choose the initiative from your save 'Initiatives' or add a new one. New additions will be added to your list of 'Initiatives'.
4. Repeat this process for Platform and Launch platforms.
5. Click 'Update Sample'.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.geosamples.org/for-researchers/register-samples/initiative-platform-and-launch-platform.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
