Migrated samples use one [object type](/metadata-schema/migration-from-the-legacy-schema/renamed-vocabularies.md#object-type-was-sample-type) value: the leaf label. If a subtype was set, that is the value that was mapped. The original pair is kept as **legacy sample type**. The catalog can show `object type (previously legacy sample type)`. API registration uses the **object type** leaf label.
